The Kings continue their winning ways with a victory in Olds

Olds, February 3, 2023 – The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings continue their winning ways after sweeping the Olds College Broncos in three sets in Olds.

The Kings came out of the game fast and with a lot of energy against a Broncos team that has resurged after dropping their first three matches on the season. The Kings managed to win the first set 25-18 after outside-hitter Noah Carlson (Open Studies) blocked the Broncos hitter all by himself to give his team the set point.

Like their season, the Broncos managed to fight in the second set and stay point-for-point with the Kings. But the visiting Red Deer Polytechnic managed to pull away with a three-point lead when it mattered the most as it was late in the second set. After failing to put away the set on the first set point, it was Carlson who took care of business, and this time killed it for the 25th point to give his team a 25-22 victory and a 2-0 lead over the Broncos.

As the Kings entered the third set, the traditional Kings Volleyball program showed up and exploded to a huge lead early on in the game which led to a 25-17 victory as they swept the Broncos in three straight sets. RDP called the match after a Broncos outside-hitter mishit the ball and it went out the back to give the Kings the match-clinching point.

Setter Maddux Greves was named the Kings player of the game after leading the team's offense and setting up his teammates for some kills.

These two teams will be back in action tomorrow night around 8 pm at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
