Boston Pizza RDP Athlete of the Week for November 10, 2025
Japhet Kipkosgei shone at the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country Running National Championship in Prince Edward Island. Through relentless effort, Kipkosgei (26:02) placed seventh nationally over 8 km. His tremendous result helped the RDP Cross Country Running Mixed team earn CCAA bronze, which highlighted the top male and female runners on each squad.
As the fastest member of the Kings, the University Arts Diploma student also played an integral role in his team ranking sixth across Canada. Kipkosgei, who is from Kapsabet, Kenya, was also honoured as a CCAA Men’s Cross Country Running All-Canadian.

Japhet Kipkosgei had an outstanding race for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Cross Country Running team at the ACAC Cross Country Running Championships held in Grande Prairie. Kipkosgei (25:46), a second-year runner from Kenya, earned an individual silver medal over 8 km. His tremendous result contributed to the RDP Kings (26 team points) achieving a team gold medal. They impressively defeated second place Lethbridge Polytechnic (46) by 20 points.
He has been a consistent performer, ranking among the top ACAC male runners all season.
Kipkosgei (University Arts Diploma) and the Kings will vie for a medal at the CCAA Cross Country Running National Championships in Prince Edward Island on Saturday, November 8.

Boston Pizza RDP Athlete of the Week for October 6, 2025
Japhet Kipkosgei continues to be one of the leaders in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Cross Country Running. The University Arts student (26:46) ranked second over 8 km at Running Room Grand Prix #4 in Camrose, helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings finish first with 33 points.
Kipkosgei and the RDP Kings will race at the ACAC Cross Country Running Championships held in Grande Prairie on October 25.

Boston Pizza RDP Athlete of the Week for September 8, 2025
Japhet Kipkosgei made a splash in his cross country running season debut. The second-year University Arts student finished first among Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) male competitors at Running Room Grand Prix #1. Kipkosgei, a talented runner from Kenya, completed the 8 km course in 27:52. This impressive result helped the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Cross Country Running team rank first in Edmonton with 23 points.
Kipkosgei has been a valuable member of the RDP Kings Cross Country Running team. His hard work, commitment and desire to improve will serve him well throughout the year.
Kipkosgei and the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings will look to continue this momentum into Running Room Grand Prix #2. The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks will host the event on Saturday, September 20.

Japhet Kipkosgei had a strong performance for the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings Cross Country Running team at Running Room Grand Prix #5. The first-year student-athlete from Kenya (28:59) led the Kings and finished sixth among his ACAC peers on the 8 km course. This exceptional effort helped the RDP Kings (59 points) place fourth as a team, trailing third place NAIT (54 points) by only five points.
Kipkosgei, a University Arts Diploma student, has been a welcome addition to the RDP Cross Country team. With his hard work and talent, Kipkosgei will be in contention for a medal at the ACAC Cross Country Running Championships on October 26.
