Bio

Aaron Schulha has been the head coach of the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball Program for 18 seasons. Schulha has led the team to back-to-back ACAC and CCAA Championships the last two seasons (2025 and 2026). This is the second time that he has accomplished this feat, winning back-to-back ACAC and CCAA Championships in 2016 and 2017. During his time at the helm, his teams have accumulated 8 ACAC Championships, 4 ACAC silvers and two ACAC bronze medals (14 ACAC medals) to go along with 5 CCAA Championships, 2 CCAA silver medals and 1 CCAA bronze.  Aaron has amassed 392 ACAC and CCAA wins as the head coach of this historic program. He has been named ACAC Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year each of the past three seasons and has earned this honor six times during his coaching tenure at RDP. He also received the CCAA Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2025 for the second time in his career. The first was in 2014 where he also received the CCAA Coaching Excellence Award across all sports. Prior to taking over the RDP program, Schulha was an assistant coach with the University of Alberta Golden Bears for the 2006-07 season.

Before transitioning to coaching, Schulha had a successful playing career, including winning three straight CCAA National Championships with the RDC Kings, as well as a CIS (now USports) silver and a CIS Championship with the U of A Golden Bears. In the summer of 2005, he was a member of the Canadian National Team and represented Canada at the World University (FISU) Games in Turkey. He was lucky enough to return to the FISU Games in 2009 in Serbia, but this time as an assistant coach.

Coach Schulha believes strongly in creating an environment that promotes growth, responsibility, accountability and enjoyment. The team strives for excellence on the volleyball court but equally as important are the relationships that student-athletes develop during their time at RDP. He strongly believes that his Kings Volleyball players are better people upon leaving this institution and embarking on the next chapter of their lives.
