Bio

RDC Athlete of the Week for March 16, 2020

Lead Carmyn Penner played a key role in the RDC Queens’ 7-5 national bronze medal victory over the Concordia University Thunder at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)/Curling Canada College Curling Championships. During round-robin play, the Queens had a 1-3 start, but remained composed and picked up three consecutive victories, finishing 4-3 and earning a spot in the playoffs. Penner positively contributed to the team’s strong cohesion, which was integral to its success in Portage la Prairie.

As the stakes rose, the first-year Bachelor of Education Elementary student elevated her play. Penner had her best performance of the year in the medal game, making a clutch draw that set up the winning point in the tenth end. She impressively shot 81 per cent in the contest.

Congratulations Carmyn!
